The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended MTN Ghana Foundation for cutting sod for the construction of a 600-bed dormitory at the Tamale Senior High School (Tamasco).
The architectural plan of the dormitory comes with a bungalow for the housemistress, washrooms and a room for the girls’ prefect.
The Cooperate Service Executive of MTN Ghana, Sam Koranteng said that the project is estimated to cost up to GH¢2 million.
He said the project followed a consistent appeal to MTN by the headmaster.
According to him, MTN Ghana Foundation is aimed at improving the education, health and economic empowerment sectors of the country.
Dr Bawumia commended the Foundation for its efforts to complement the works of the government in the field of education.
The Vice-President, however, cautioned students and management of the school that the building be handled well when completed and commissioned.
He challenged other network companies and private individuals to also find ways to complement the works of the government.
