Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed joy over the recovery of a four-year-old cured leper, Priscilla who he sponsored following a visit.

In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia described the visit from Priscilla who now walks with a prosthetic leg, as his “best Christmas gift.”

Priscilla according to Dr Bawumia was at the Weija Leprosarium and had the opportunity to undergo medical treatment in Italy for her amputated leg.

“I got my best Christmas gift yesterday when Priscilla returned to Ghana and paid me a visit at home to thank me and show that she can now walk with her new leg. To God be the glory,” he wrote.

Priscilla was reportedly abandoned by her parents at birth due to her condition and has been under the care of Father Andrew Campbell at the Weija Leprosarium.

After numerous failed attempts to treat her severely affected legs, her limb was eventually amputated in Ghana.

As a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, Dr Bawumia during one of his routine visits to the leprosarium came across Priscilla.

She has spent five months undergoing the treatment and recovery process.
