Barcelona: Lamine Yamal to sit out for three to four weeks due to ankle injury

Attacker, Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to an injury, FC Barcelona has confirmed.

The 17-year-old, of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean heritage, sustained the injury during Barcelona’s recent match against CD Leganés on Sunday.

Yamal suffered a blow to his right ankle, and Monday’s medical tests revealed a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament.

A club statement said: “Lamine Yamal received a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganés on Sunday.

“Tests carried out on Monday have revealed that the player has a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament in the ankle. The player is expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks.”

Yamal was substituted in the 75th minute, with Gavi coming on in his place. Barcelona has confirmed that the young winger will be unavailable for the next few weeks.

The talented forward has been a key performer for Barcelona this season, contributing six goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
