Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, is expected to rule today, Thursday, October 17, on a petition calling for the removal of four sitting MPs from the House.
The Minority is pushing for the removal of Agona West MP Cynthia Morrison, Suhum MP Kojo Asante, Fomena MP Andrew Asiamah, and Amenfi Central MP, Peter Kwakye Ackah.
The MPs in question have filed to contest as independent candidates in the upcoming December elections.
Peter Kwakye Ackah, one of the affected MPs said he is not bothered by the impending ruling.
“I have not declared that I am leaving the party. I have only expressed my intention to run as an independent candidate in the next parliament. Being independent does not necessarily mean leaving the party.”
“If the Speaker rules that my seat is vacant, there’s little I can do. I understand that every action comes with consequences, and I am prepared for whatever follows,” he said.
