The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to uphold the trust placed in them by Ghanaians through dedication and hard work.

Speaking in the wake of their victory in the December 7 general elections, Bagbin lauded the duo for their resounding mandate and emphasized the immense responsibility they bear in meeting the expectations of the electorate.

“I commend President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for achieving an emphatic victory and earning the overwhelming mandate of Ghanaians in the just-ended elections. As the saying goes, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected,” Bagbin remarked.

The Speaker reminded the newly elected leaders that their campaign promise to “reset Ghana” had been overwhelmingly endorsed by voters, reinforcing the need to deliver tangible results.

“Your promise to reset Ghana has received massive support, and you cannot afford to disappoint the people,” he stressed.

Bagbin also expressed confidence in Parliament’s role as a reliable partner in ensuring the Mahama administration delivers on its commitments, emphasizing the legislature’s responsibility as a safeguard for integrity and reform.

“I am confident that Parliament will serve as a dependable ally and a gatekeeper to ensure the just fulfillment of that promise,” he concluded.
