Baba Yara Stadium ready to host matches – NSA confirms

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Patience Adams, has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is ready to host football matches following the completion of extensive renovations.

The stadium had been temporarily closed after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revoked its license to host international games, prompting major upgrades to the facility.

After several months of renovation, Adams confirmed that the work is complete and the stadium is ready for use.

However, she noted that final approval from authorities in Accra is still pending before it can officially reopen.

“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events, but we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra before the facility can be opened,” she told Akoma FM.

The temporary closure led Asante Kotoko to relocate to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as their home venue for the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The team is expected to return to Baba Yara Stadium once the necessary clearance is granted.
