The death toll from the house fire at Axim in the Western Region has risen to six following the death of three more victims.
The three were in critical condition, with arrangements underway to airlift them to Accra for further treatment.
Catherine Afeku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Evalue Gwira constituency, facilitated the plan to transport the trio to the 37 Military Hospital after the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
Although a helicopter arrived to airlift the victims safely, they succumbed to their injuries before the evacuation could take place.
The fire engulfed a residential building, spreading rapidly and killing three people instantly.
The remaining three victims, though initially surviving the blaze in critical condition, were rushed to the Axim Government Hospital, where they later passed away.
The six victims are believed to be family members, including a father, mother, and their four children.
