Augustine Boakye to miss remainder of the season due to ankle injury

-

Ghanaian forward Augustine Boakye will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury, Saint Etienne coach Eirik Horneland has confirmed.

The former WAFA star sustained the injury during training and has since undergone successful surgery.

Ahead of Saint Etienne’s crucial match against Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Horneland confirmed Boakye’s absence.

“He had surgery during the international break and will be out for the rest of the season,” the Norwegian coach stated.

Boakye, 24, has been a key player for Saint Etienne this season, scoring three goals in 17 appearances. His injury adds to Ghana’s growing list of long-term absentees, which includes Nathaniel Adjei, Alidu Seidu, and Fatawu Issahaku.

Saint Etienne, currently fighting relegation, are desperate to turn their season around.

They remain winless in their last nine matches and face an uphill battle against an unbeaten PSG side this Saturday.
