One person has been confirmed dead in a gory accident at Kintampo near the waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo region.
The accident according to the Kintampo Ghana National Fire Service commander, Adu Kumi happened around 10 am Thursday morning about 300 metres from where the Metro Mass Bus claimed over 60 lives last year.
According to Mr Adu Kumi, the accident occurred when the driver of a long trailer with registration number GN 1904 failed breaks and in an attempt to save the situation, the truck somersaulted and later landed in a bush.
Mr Adu Kumi said it took the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) over two hours to get him out of the truck loaded with over 1000 containers of cooking oil.
“This morning we had a call indicating an accident had occurred. The driver of the trailer had failed breaks. In an attempt to save himself the car somersaulted and fell into a bush” he said.
The deceased was identified as Imoro Awudu by his driving license and also a colleague driver with a different vehicle.
According to the said driver, they had all taken off from Tema when the unfortunate incident happened.
Meanwhile, Mr Adu Kumi said the conductor of the driver survived and currently receiving treatment at the Kintampo Municipal hospital while the body has been conveyed to the morgue.
