The Ghana AIDS Commission is worried about the nonchalant nature of young women towards the dreaded disease.
According to the General of the Commission, Steve Kyeremeh Atuahene, young women are more worried getting pregnancy than being infected with HIV/AIDS.

This attitude, he stated has resulted in the
upsurge of the deadly disease among the youth in 2017 especially those below
24-years.
“Young women these days take family planning pills to prevent pregnancy but have unprotected sex and this has resulted in the increase of infections among the youth” he bemoaned.

Mr. Atuahene explained that, in their
2017 report, the youth particularly those below the age of 24 who attracted the
HIV/AIDS disease rose to about 45 percent nationwide.
He described the current trend as worrying because of the disturbing culture of unprotected sex.

“Protection is the use of condoms during high-risk sex to live an AIDS-free live” Mr. Atuahene stressed.
