The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said that members of the party’s vigilante groups would be enlisted into the national security of the country.
Ken Agyapong reacting to the recent invasion of the party’s Ashanti Regional security team, Delta Forces of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to drag out the security coordinator for the region said the party’s private security forces did that because they lacked jobs and was also protecting the national purse.
The MP who claimed he never had the full briefing on that said he would offer his full support to the ‘boys’ because they protected him and several big wigs in the part against the NDC while in opposition.
“I will support these vigilante groups in NPP today, tomorrow and anytime. If their activity is a means of protecting the public purse, then I support them fully.
“These boys sacrificed a lot for the victory of the party. When the NDC were killing us, these people fought for us and so don’t discourage them,” he said on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday.
Members of the vigilante groups aligned to the NPP since January 2017 are reported to have engaged in various attacks on persons who served in the previous administration.
The latest of their actions which have been a source of worry is the attack on George Agyei, who was appointed by the National Security Minister to coordinate security in the Ashanti Region.
The group have since defended that they undertook that action because they cannot work with Mr Agyei.
Leaders of the group have since apologised for their action which has attracted widespread condemnation.
Reacting to the issue, the outspoken MP indicated that since these vigilante groups are recognized by the party, they will all be enlisted into the national security.
“The vigilante groups are recognized in the party and so I will personally make sure they are recruited into national security. If it is work that they need, we will gladly employ them to continue working for Ghana,” he noted.
He further argued all members of the party’s vigilante group to come to him for employment.
“Any of the Invincible Forces and Delta Forces who have no work should come to me today, we will give them work…,” he said and urged the members of the vigilante groups not to disappoint when enlisted into the national security.
