The Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, has challenged Western countries pushing for legalization of homosexuality in Africa to do same in the Arab countries.
Rt. Rev Christopher Nyarko Andam could not understand why Africa and the Arab countries have similar position on same-sex marriage yet the United Kingdom is pushing it down our throats.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Theresa May has incurred the wrath of many, especially in Africa after she urged Commonwealth nations to overhaul “outdated” anti-gay laws in their respective countries.
She said the UK as a colonial master deeply regrets its role in the legacy of violence and discrimination.
“Nobody should face discrimination or persecution because of who they are or who they love” Theresa May added.

But on Adom FMs morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, Rt. Rev Christopher Nyarko Andam opined that, homosexuality is abnormal and abominable and should never be encouraged on the excuse of respecting the human rights of gays and lesbians.
He said the fact that same-sex marriage has been legalized elsewhere does not make it right for it to be either copied or replicated in Ghana.
“Why don’t the UK and other countries put pressure on the Arab countries to legalize homosexuality” he quizzed.

Rev Nyarko maintained that, the marriage between people of the same-sex “is unbiblical” and the challenge is for everybody to help fight it.
Rt. Rev Nyarko Andam further urged Christians to send a message to the political leadership to resist any overtures by the rich and influential nations to intimidate or cajole the country to blindly follow their unrighteous path.
