The Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akando, has proposed an alternative use of the money to be used for the construction of a new parliamentary chamber.
The construction of the proposed 450-seater new Parliamentary chamber, according to the Juaboso MP, is a grand agenda by the Akufo-Addo-led administration to expand the number of constituencies.

According to Mr Akando, it will be hypocritical on the part of the government to say President Akufo-Addo is unaware of the matter.
“Let me put it on record that there is no such decision that would be executed if the president and his vice are not aware,” he asserted.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Wednesday, the NDC MP said the agenda of the government is to create the new chamber which would accommodate more MPs from the many more constituencies that would be created.
“Please, let’s be real; the agenda is that they are planning on creating more constituencies and for that to be executed, they have come up with this chamber issue so that it can house MPs in those constituencies. I think it would be of importance to us if that money is channelled into fixing the Accra Sports Stadium,” he noted.

Some Ghanaians have started a campaign on social media to ensure that the proposed new Parliamentary Chamber Block is not constructed.
The campaign which has the hashtag #DropthatChamber is currently the top trend on Twitter in Ghana.
Although the cost of the new chamber, described as “futuristic” by its architect has not yet been disclosed, many of the Twitter comments have suggested that it’s around $200m.
