Audio: Upper Dixcove chief denies kidnap, assault of colleague chief

Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove, Obrempong Hima Dekyi XIV has denied allegations of kidnapping the paramount chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX and four of his subjects.

According to him, he did not even know the chief had been assaulted until the police informed him Monday dawn.

The Western Region Police Command launched a man-hunt for Obrempong Dekyi as he was named as the mastermind behind the attack.

The assailants are said to have forcibly broke into the Lower Dixcove chief’s palace, and damaged some items at the palace and the transformer in the community, resulting in a total blackout in the area.

The police rescue team, led by the Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe, managed to rescue the abducted Paramount Chief, who is currently on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi.

Reacting to the issue on Adom News, Obrempong Dekyi expressed shock at the turn of events.

He said it is rather the police officers who are supporting criminals in the area to terrorise residents.

This notwithstanding, Obrempon Dekyi said he would turn himself in to the police. “I am not above the law so I will go to the police to help in investigations,” he added.
