Three suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Walewale police in the West-Mamprusi district of the Northern region.
The suspects tried running away when a police patrol team on night shift ordered them to stop.
According to the eyewitness Issifu Mashood, the initial number of the suspects were on three motorbikes from Sankasin a prominent market centre located around the Togo border.
“They refused to stop when the police ordered them to. So with that, they were chased by the patrol team until three of them were nabbed…” he narrated.
Meanwhile, the district police commander, DSP Obrako Sarpong Bempeh, narrating the incident said they looked very suspicious and there was the need to stop them.
He added that, during the night patrol, the suspected armed robbers overtook the police patrol at a top speed which eventually gave them the hint that they were likely to be armed robbers returning from an operation.
DSP Obrako Sarpong Bempeh, said “They are in our custody and in depth investigations will be conducted into the matter. We have to know what was happening that night…” he said.
