AUDIO: Tawiah Boateng blames former NDC appointees for his defeat

-

Defeated Eastern Regional Chairman aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has revealed that his defeat was caused by some former appointees of the Mahama-led government.

According to Mr Boateng, the former appointees as well as some members of the national secretariat became uncomfortable with him hence plotted his defeat.

He mentioned a leading member of the NDC such as Victor Smith and the Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, as some of the people who campaigned against him even during the regional elections on Saturday, September, 1.

So many things happened during this elections but I see that as a party issue. But I’m not happy about my loss because some people were behind my defeat. I did all I had to do for the delegates but they still voted against me,” he alleged.

Former appointees led by Victor Smith ganged up against me which ensured that I was defeated. In the course of collating votes there was lights out just to ensure that things were changed in favour of my opponents” he said on Accra-based Okay FM Monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Tawiah Boateng was attempting to seek another term as the Eastern Regional Chairman of the party.

He trailed behind Mr John Owusu Amankrah, popularly known as Jowak, at the Regional elections of the party at the weekend.

Jowak polled 373 as against Tawiah Boateng’s 281 votes.

A third candidate, Mr Basil Ahiable polled 249 votes.

But a pained Mr Tawiah Boateng who is claiming some form of rigging took place says he is still in a shock as to why he performed poorly.

I was not voted out because I did not take care of the delegates, I gave everything they needed but I think they just wanted me out” he stated.

Mr Tawiah Boateng said though he has been ousted, he is ever ready to work together with Mr John Owusu Amankrah for the success of the party.

But Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo reacting to the allegations by Mr Tawiah Boateng urged the public to disregard the claims and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
