A criminal lawyer, Yaw Dankwa, has said it’s against the laws of Ghana for Reggae and Dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, to pull a gun in public when he wasn’t under any form of attack.
Mr Dankwa opined that Stonebwoy couldn’t plead self-defence even if the matter went to court since his opponent didn’t do anything to suggest harm.

“It’s wrong and against the laws of the country to pull a gun in a public event. Whether you fire or not it’s against the laws. Stonebwoy can’t plead self-defence as he is claiming now, especially when his opponent did nothing to suggest that he wanted to harm him. Even in self-defence, you have to be reasonable,” he said on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday.
Dankwa’s comment follows a statement by the musician in which he explained that he pulled his gun out of self-defence.

According to the artiste, attacks on him and his loved ones, especially on his wife during the 2017 Ashaiman to The World concert heightened his sense of security.
The artiste revealed that being “a victim of incessant vilification and physical attacks” caused a trauma he is yet to escape from.
“My past trauma and my heightened senses are however no excuses for my behaviour – no matter the provocation. Other lives were at stake and Ghana’s reputation was also at stake,” the statement read.

Speaking on possible charges against the two musicians for their conduct, the lawyer said they could be slapped with many charges.
“There are so many charges they may face. Threat of harm, charge of assault, public order offences. In fact, there are so many charges that could be brought against them,” he noted.
