Lawyer of embattled Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenin Boateng Adjei says his client will be exonerated from corruption charges leveled against him.
Augustine Obuor said his client has not sold any contract to anyone as was shown in the documentary by ace investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni titled ‘Contracts For Sale.’
“I dare anyone who claims to have bought a contract from A.B. Adjei’s company to come out with the documents to prove. There is no contract for sale,” he stated in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Friday.
The suspended PPA boss is being investigated following allegations of his involvement in the sale of government contracts in the documentary.
The documentary showed how a company – Talent Discovery Limited – incorporated in June 2017, was selling out government contracts it had been awarded mostly through restrictive tender.
He is currently being investigated by the Office of the Special Prosecutor and Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice over allegations of conflict of interest.
But, Mr Obuor said his client is now a public enemy due to the journalistic piece of a journalist which lacks evidence.
Citing himself as an example, he said he was furious when he first heard the news but after conversations with Mr Adjei, he has come to conclusion that calls for his client to be arrested are baseless.
Lawyer Obuor said the interrogation at the Special Prosecutor’s office took just 25 minutes and indicated that the investigative piece was much ado about nothing.
“When the police heard their explanation during their interrogation, they were shocked,” he stressed.
He added that, so far no one has brought incontrovertible evidence to prove that indeed he or she bought a contract from PPA boss’ company, thus proving corruption or conflict of interest charge would be difficult.
