A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, is asking disgruntled persons who feel their fundamental human rights have been trampled upon by Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his latest investigative piece to seek redress from appropriate quarters.
Henry Kwabena Kokofu says the 1992 Constitution provides legitimate avenues for settlement of such cases.
According to him, Anas should be allowed to pursue his undercover journalism in order to name, shame and jail and also keep the government on it toes in the fight against corruption.
“I think Anas has been doing this investigative thing for some time now, and in all his works, you get people crying foul and complaining of how he conducts his investigations.
Nana Akufo Addo has promised to deal with corrupt officials who are caught. If anyone thinks he has been implicated in his video and feels wronged, then you have the right to seek redress,” he said.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas, known for his exposé on corruption has always been criticised for trapping his victims, and in in some instances, invading their privacies.
Many have resorted to the courts to seek redress.
Meanwhile, maverick Lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong has since the arrest of Ghana Football Association chief, Kwesi Nyantakyi, launched attacks on Anas, accusing him of being corrupt.
But speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Friday, Mr. Kokofu expressed serious concerns over the verbal abuse and threats on Anas.
“I think threats on journalists and Anas in particular as a result of his latest expose is very bad. Instead of attacking journalists, I think you should take your time and do all the protests in court instead and not to take the law into your hands,” he said.
