Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, DSP Joseph Benefo Darkwah has explained the killer of the head pastor of the central Assemblies of God church in Tema community four is likely to go through a mental examination.
A 31-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing the pastor Reverend Nabegmado on Sunday morning at the church premises where he was preparing to deliver a sermon.
Speaking on Adom FM’s “Dwaso Nsem” show on Monday, DSP Darkwah stated is likely a medical examination will be conducted.

“The suspect is currently in our custody and I do not want to go ahead of judgment but it is very likely a mental examination to determine the state of mind will be ordered by the court if he is arraigned.”
The killer who was identified as Francis at the time of his arrest had alcohol, turpentine, matches, a knife and a machete on him.
In a justification to his action, he accused the deceased who he claimed to be his uncle, is not a true man of God.

“He has sacrificed all the family and has destroyed everybody so I had to go and idols to the house for protection. He also sacrificed about 2 or 3 in a year,” he alleged after his arrest.
According to him, he had planned to burn the alleged deity of Rev Nabegmado after killing him in his office at the church premises Sunday morning just before he stepped into the auditorium to deliver his sermon.

DSP Benefo Darkwah however stated investigations are underway into the matter while statements from witnesses have already been taken with police personnel dispatched to the house of the deceased as well as the church premises to ensure maximum security.
