The Chief of Kokrobite, Nii Ofei III says the chieftaincy dispute at Oshiye in the Ga-South municipality of the Greater Accra region which left one person dead is scaring tourists away from the town.
The Assembly man for the Kokrobite Electoral area, Rockson Sakah said that the incident occurred due to protracted chieftaincy issues in the area.
According to him, the disputes have existed for more than 17 years between two factions who claim legitimacy to the stool.
The matter has been reported to the police and investigations have commenced.
Even though police have been deployed to the area to restore calm, Nii Ofei says several residents are leaving the town.
He told Adom News that Kokrobite which serves as a tourist attraction for foreigners has now become a ‘white elephant’.
The chief is therefore pleading with the Kokrobite police to strengthen security situation in the town to prevent future occurrences.
