Audio: Operation Vanguard is sabotaging Akufo Addo – NPP MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is alleging Operation Vanguard Task force deployed by government to combat illegal mining activities is sabotaging the presidency in a bid to make it unpopular.

He wants the government to sack members of the taskforce because their operations will rather make matters worse.

“These Vanguard members have really done a disservice to the President and have allowed their selfish interest to take over them. I want the President to smoke all of them out and should not allow them to take over the mining job again” he said on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday.

The police-military team were deployed to combat the illegal mining operations popularly known in the localparlance as galamsey following reports of destruction of the environment andwater bodies in affected communities.

But according to the outspoken MP,  Operation Vanguard allow illegal operators prepared to pay unspecified amount of money to operate; punish those who are unable to meet their financial demands.

He wants the Operation Vanguard to either be dissolved or sacked from their operational duty points.
