Looking at what has happened with Michel François Platini, Joseph “Sepp” Blatter and the rest, I really would be surprised if Kwesi Nyantakyi is going to come out successful in his bid to appeal his lifetime ban by FIFA.

These are the words of Former Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.

According to him, such a lifetime ‘punishment’ on the former Ghana Footballer Association (GFA) president could have been avoided had the alleged cases of corruption been tackled earlier.

“When I started talking about this issue, people thought I was witch-hunting him but see the disgrace that has befallen our friend, our brother, our fellow Ghanaian. The disgrace and the shame are for all of us as a country and as a people involved in football and in sports” he cried.

Former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi is headed for the Court of Arbitration for Sports to appeal a lifetime ban handed by FIFA on Tuesday.

The renowned administrator was found guilty of violating three FIFA codes of conflict of interest, bribery and corruption, and commission after being caught in an investigative documentary on politics, corruption, and match-fixing in June.

But Mr. Lantey Vanderpuye who severally clashed with Nyantakyi during his time as Sports Minister, called for prayers for the beleaguered former Ghana FA boss to come out successful in order to clear his reputation but doubt he could be successful as he plans to appeal.
