AUDIO: NDC MPs who endorsed Mahama were blackmailed – former MP asserts

-

A former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale, has described as laughable claims that 94 MPs have endorsed the candidacy of former President John Mahama as the party’s flagbearer.

Nii Amasah Namoale said out of the 106 Minority MPs, only six from the Volta region appended their signatures to the endorsement deal after they had been “blackmailed and emotionally abused”.

One of the MPs contacted told me some of them were blackmailed and others promised ministerial positions so they had no other choice than to endorse Mahama”, he stated on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday.

This was after MP for Bulsa South; Dr Clement Apaak confirmed the MPs’ decision to endorse former President Mahama as their candidate ahead of the NDC’s flagbearership elections.

He explained that they resolved to support Mr Mahama because they were convinced he is the best man to salvage Ghana from total collapse.

But in a rebuttal, Nii Amasah Namoale said there is a grand scheme to force Mr Mahama down the throat of NDC members.

I know majority of NDC MPs have been blackmailed, coerced and enticed with ministerial positions just to endorse Mahama. This will cripple that party if it continues” he fumed.

The former La Dadekotopon MP bemoaned how the party is not creating a level playing field for all candidates including Professor Joshua Alabi who is also in the race.

This notwithstanding, Hon. Namoale said the Alabi campaign team remains resolute and focused on its submarine strategy.

No matter the hand twisting and democratic tyranny, we will still contest. Nothing will convince Prof Alabi to step down”, he added.
