The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has questioned the propriety of the punishment handed to two heads of Senior High Schools over their alleged involvements in illegal admission of students and collection of money from students under the free SHS programme.

President of NAGRAT, Angel Kabonu, said the Ghana Education Service (GES) failed to involve them during the investigations before handing the heads the punishment.
The Headmaster of the Nandom SHS in the Upper West Region, Bro. Joachim Naah has been relieved of his position for allegedly being involved in “illegal collection of fees and illegal admission of students under the free SHS programme”.

The other person, the Headmaster of Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Mr William Kusi-Yeboah, has been interdicted, “pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged acts of violations of procedures of the Ghana Education Service”.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, the NAGRAT President said the GES failed to contact them before making the matter public.
He noted that if the two headmasters are found to be innocent after investigations, their hard-won reputation would have been dented.

“We will challenge the decision of GES especially on the decision taken on the ADISCO headmaster,” he added.
Angel Kabonu revealed that his outfit was likely to call for a review of the “harsh” decision to ensure that the rights of these individuals are not abused.
