A branch communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase constituency is accusing the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia of imposing Muntaka Mubarak on them.

He was reacting to a statement in which Mr Muntaka was declared as the parliamentary candidate for the NDC in 2020.

The statement followed the acceptance of a report by the Doe Adjaho Committee which was constituted to look into petitions surrounding the selection of parliamentary candidates.

The statement, signed by Mr Nketia, said the issues raised by the parliamentary aspirant, Masawudu Mubarick have been settled and Mr Mubarak will now go unopposed.

But, Mr Ibrahim said the statement put out by the NDC General Secretary was not the true reflection of the Committee’s work.

He alleged that, Mr Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, doctored the report to favour his friend, Mr Mubarak who is scheming for him to be chosen for the Veep post.

“Asiedu Nketia changed the committees report; my intelligence tells me the Doe Adjaho Committee recommended both candidates contest the primary. He is doing this for Muntaka because he wants to be running mate,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Wednesday.

He said they will punish the NDC in 2020 elections for imposing a candidate on them.
