AUDIO: Minority calls on former presidents to assist Akufo-Addo to defeat vigilantism in Ghana

Minority in Parliament wants former presidents and civil society organisations to intervene and assist President Akufo-Addo to defeat activities of vigilante groups in the country.

Addressing the press, Minority spokesperson on Parliament’s Employment Committee, Dr Kwabena Donkor charged the country’s security agencies to rise up to the occasion and comprehensively nip the activities of vigilante groups in the bud.

His comment follows a wave of vigilantism by political parties in the country, already groups like Invincible Forces, Delta Forces, Azorka Boys and recently the Hawks have sprung up in the country, ostensibly to fight political causes during the buildup to elections.

Speaking to Adom News on this worrying trend, Pru East MP, Dr Kwabena Donkor said the time has come for the three former Presidents to assist President Akufo-Addo to eliminate activities of such groups.

Dr. Donkor added that despite the NDC’s move to distance itself from the said Hawks group, he will raise the matter at the next NDC NEC meeting.
