Police in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region has arrested a 19-year-old man identified as Joshua Ofori, for selling ‘fake honey’ in Obuasi and its surrounding areas.
According to the Obuasi District Police Commander, DSP Martin Assenso, the suspect was arrested at Tweapease police barrier on the Obuasi-Dunkwa road on his way to sell.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, DSP Assenso disclosed the suspect produced the honey from foam mattress.
“We arrested him on Wednesday and after our initial investigation, we saw a piece of foam in the honey but he told us he bought them from a woman he identified as Mary Atia which he had already sold some to the police men” he said.

However, he added that “upon interrogation, Mary Atia told us Joshua did not buy large quantities from her and can’t attest to the nature of the honey but we have retrieved some of her oil for test at the forensic lab”.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Joshua Ofori speaking in an interview with Adom News denied knowledge of the honey being fake because he believes Mary Osei her supplier buy the honey from Ejura.
