The authenticity of President Akuffo-Addo’s security detail as state-trained security personnel has been questioned by a member of parliament.
Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akando is worried about the stoutly build men who follow the President as his personal security detail.

According to him, the men who were seen following the President before 2016 elections though are not members of the security detail, still, follow him in an unofficial capacity.
Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show “Badwam” Wednesday, Mr Akando said the situation breeds more vigilantes, especially when people who are not members of the official security detail of the president have access to him without being questioned.

The situation, according to the MP is not only unacceptable but also does not speak well of the presidency.
He wants the President to sack those men to bring sanity.
“There are some macho men who are always seen around the president and who follow him wherever he goes; some of them I can identify. They were with him during the campaign season when the president was a candidate,” he claimed.

Mr Akando’s comments come in the wake of attacks by pro-NDC vigilante group, the ‘Hawks’ at the Ashanti Regional headquarters of the National Democratic Congress in Kumasi.
