Audio: Kwesi Botchwey report was leaked by NDC – Nana Boakye

-

Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Nana Boakye has said that portions of the Prof Kwesi Botchwey Committee making rounds in the media were leaked by some disgruntled members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, some greedy and arrogant members of the party leaked the report to the media to create disaffection in the party.

He therefore asked the NDC to stop blaming the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and concentrate on how to deal with the issues if they are bent on recapturing power from the NPP.

“In my view, there are so many things that are now currently working against NDC members. Some disgruntled members are behind the report and I personally know some of them but won’t mention names and so they should desist from accusing us” he said on Accra based Okay FM.

The much guarded Prof. Kwesi Botchwey committee report on the crushing defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the 2016 polls was submitted to the party in June after six months of work.

Recommending a “peacemaking and healing tour”, Prof Botchwey who presented the 455-page report said the NDC must assemble “credible and eminent” personalities in the party to lead the tour.

The decision by the leadership of the NDC not to make the document public continues to generate speculations on what really the report contains.

Joy News, however, secured a copy of the executive summary of the report and made a series of reports on in the week.

It listed among other things that contributed to the party’s loss in the 2016 elections including former president John Mahama’s ‘movie star’ lifestyle, the treatment of party members at the grassroots and the non-release of cash meant for the campaign.

It also said the NDC lost the elections because internally, it was divided.

But Nana Boakye indicated that it is necessary for serious work to be done in the party in restructuring the party because the NPP is focus on fulfilling its promises to Ghanaians.
