Government is indebted to caterers rendering services under the Ghana National School Feeding Programme (GNSFP) to the tune of GHc165 million.
Public Relations Officer of the Ghana School Feeding Caterers Association, Maame Yaa Duodu Appiah-Koran who revealed this to Adom News said the previous government was indebted to the over 5, 000 caterers nationwide to the tune of GHC 144 million but failed to settle the debt.
She said the current government has also not settled its debt from January 2017 to April 2017, a situation she describes as very worrying.
The situation she added has put a strain on the caterers as they owe their suppliers.
“The government owes us for 100 days and left without paying and the previous government also owes us but they have not paid as well. The situation is very worrying because we can no longer pay our suppliers and so government should settle us so we can go back to school” she said.
Yaa Duodu Appiah, has therefore called on the Gender and Social Protection minister, Otiko Djaba to pay settle their debts by Monday 8, to enable them go back to work.
