A fundraising campaign has been launched to complete the John Evans Atta Mills Presidential Library in Cape Coast.
The two-storey edifice is a memorial and research facility completed and inaugurated about three years ago.

But, the facility is rotting away due to the contractor’s resolve to lock it under lock and key for non-payment of work done.

The proximity of the library to the sea has resulted in the air-conditioners and pillars being eaten up by the sea breeze.

To salvage the situation, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye suggested Ghanaians raise funds to salvage the situation.

He started with seed money of GH₵500.00 to pay the contractor for the library to be opened for its intended purpose.
“Professor Mills is a dedicated, patriotic Ghanaian; he served this country with his whole life and we cannot allow this to happen to him,” he said to Captain Smart on Adom FM‘s Dwaso Nsem show, Wednesday.
