Residents of Sayeegu and Sambrik near Nakpanduri in the Northern region are living in fear following sporadic shooting in two communities on Monday.
The two communities (Sayeegu and Sambrik) are just recovering from a land dispute that led to the killing of a chief and two others over a land dispute.
Assembly member for Nakpanduri South, Mona Dam says Monday’s shooting which was between the 2 feuding villages has put residents into a state of fear, a situation he describes as very worrying.
According to him, efforts to get the police to control the situation has proved futile.
“We are living in fear in this area, when the incident occurred, we called on the police but the reluctantly refused to pay attention to us and now we have nothing to do now” he said.
Meanwhile police in the district said they are not aware of any gunshots but have promised to investigate the matter.
