The immediate past General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has urged acclaimed men of God to respect the dignity of leaders in the country.

“I have not heard Churches/Pastors from South Korea, France, Germany, UK, Canada, USA etc frequently predicting or discussing the death of their leaders being it Political, Religious, Traditional, Entertainment etc in Public in the name of Prophecy,” he said.

His comments comes amid reports that some preachers, during their 31st watch-night services predicted that some of Ghana’s key figures will not live to see the end of 2019.

The Leader and Founder of the Glorious Word Ministry incurred the wrath of the public when he prophesied that former President John Mahama, the Chief Imam, and current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are going to die this year, 2019.

Speaking to his congregation during the 31st watch night service at his church, the popular man of God stated that if Ghanaians don’t pray, John Mahama will be killed by some of his NDC members and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will die.

But Dr. Opuni-Frimpong on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen said Tuesday maintained that this practice has proven to be of no help in fostering the needed bond among both the church and the country’s leaders as well as the various religious beliefs.

He however cautioned the media to stop giving publicity to such predictions in a bid to consolidate the religious faith.

“May be this is the time the Media must stop providing Media Oxygen to the death predictions for public decency and maturity of Religious practices to thrive.

“Political leaders who are affiliated to sources of such predictions will do the nation a lot of good if they can distance themselves from death predictions on others” he stated.
