New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Tema East has strongly defended the Asantehene after he claimed his palace had to convince the former President John Dramani Mahama to concede defeat during the 2016 general election.
To Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover, a revered chief like Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who believes in the development of the nation, would not have made those comments if they were false, hence the former President and his members should accord him that respect.
“Asantehene is a king and knows what’s right and wrong and even knows what’s false and true. Otumfuo is a great king who advises people, especially politicians.

“If he managed to convince Mahama to accept defeat as a means of ensuring peace, then you come out and deny it, then indirectly, the National Democratic Congress is telling us that the Asantehene has lied. Otumfuo doesn’t lie,” he said on Adom TV’s ‘Badwam‘ morning show.
Former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has rejected claims that former President Mahama was persuaded before conceding defeat during the 2016 general election.
