Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benard Allotey Jacob, has described the Cape Coast-Accra road as a “death trap”.
The politician who plies the route almost every week said the number of deaths recorded over the weekend shows the design of the road could be a contributory factor.

Allotey Jacobs made the comment while discussing two fatal accidents on the road which claimed six lives and injured many.
Subsequent to this, many accidents had occurred on that stretch of road with many blaming reckless driving, especially, by commercial drivers for it.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Allotey Jacobs expressed worry about the spate of carnage on the Cape Coast road.

According to him, fatalities on the Cape Coat Accra road still remain a major problem but the needed attention hasn’t been given to road safety education.
The former Central regional chairman of the NDC said to address road safety problems effectively, there was the need to intensify education, enforcement, engineering, environmental and emergency services.

Allotey Jacobs called on politicians to champion the road safety campaign to curb the accident menace.
