The chiefs and people of Budumburam Liberia Camp in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region say they are living in fear after an unidentified military officer was killed by alleged “wee” smokers at Budumburam Thursday night.
Chief of Budumburam, Nana Kojo Essel II who disclosed this on Adom FM’s Morning Show Dwaso Nsem Monday said as a result, some residents are gradually leaving the area with the excuse that they feel unsafe.

Two others were said to have been injured.
Yaw Boadi who witnessed the incident tells Adom News’ Kofi Adjei that the deceased in the company of two other colleagues clashed with some residents whilst on a visit to see their girlfriends.
He said the officers clashed with the locals who turned out to be the lovers of the same women the officers were seeing.
This, according to him, degenerated into an argument between the two groups.
One of the locals, a known wee smoker stabbed the unidentified officer in the neck, inflicting machete wounds on the other two officers who run for their lives.
However, Nana Kojo Essel, who is worried about the development, fears an attack on military men in the town gives the indication that they are not safe.

He indicated that they feel unsafe and are calling on government to, as a matter of urgency, demolish all structures purported to be the hideout of what he describes as ‘rascals’.
They are also calling for adequate protection from the state.
“Our lives are at risk in the hands of these rascals and so government should intervene and protect us. If they are capable of attacking military men to the extent of killing them, then what happens to the ordinary citizens like us.
