Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has described Dr Bossman Asare, the nominated Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) as a card-bearing member of the NPP.
“As for Bossman Asare, everything about him is NPP…his toothbrush is NPP, his boxer is NPP, his shirt is NPP, his shoe is NPP, his trousers are NPP, his food is NPP, the water he drinks is NPP, everything about him is NPP,” he said.

Dr Bossman was nominated together with Jean Mensa and two others by President Akufo-Addo on July 19 to serve as chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and deputies.
A Jubilee House communication said the President after seeking the advice of the Council of State in accordance with Article 70(2) of the constitution nominated Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensah, Mr Samuel Tettey, Dr Eric Asare Bossman and Ms Adwoa Asuama Abrefa as Chairperson, deputies and Member of the Commission respectively.
But reacting to the appointment on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday, Mr Anyidoho said the Political Science Lecturer does not hide his NPP inclination hence he wasn’t surprised that the President had nominated him to the topmost.

He added that Dr Asare was a professor in his own right but “I am saying the man himself does not hide the fact that he is NPP.”
Asked how he got to know about his colouration, Mr Anyidoho insisted Dr Asare admitted in a radio interview, “he lectures students and he doesn’t hide his NPP colouration from his students. I’m not saying it is a crime to be NPP, let’s get it right, same as it is not a crime to be NDC, it is not a crime to be NPP, so if Professor Asare is NPP, wonderful, but I’m saying that when you carry that colour in the office as head of the EC, then we begin to question the appointing authority that Mr President, why have you so politicised the Electoral Commission of the Republic of Ghana?
