Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has taken a swipe at Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and charged him to demonstrate his credentials as an economist in the management of the currency.
The National Democratic Congress MP could not fathom why Dr Bawumia instead of finding ways of saving the cedi from further depreciation, is rather moving from one place to the other, embarking on tours.
“Bawumia has become a Tourism Minister and an escort to the Ministry of Finance travelling to India and holding a sword,” he said.

The depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi has now become
a perennial crisis.
However, latest numbers from some commercial banks in the country suggest the cedi has started appreciating against the United States dollar.

But speaking on Joy News’ AM show, Mr Vanderpuye said as someone who had all the answers to the economic challenges when the NDC was in power, Dr Bawumia should have stayed in the country to answer every question on the minds of Ghanaians on matters of the economy and the cedi.
“Blame Bawumia for the depreciation of the cedi, all these questions, where is Bawumia to answer them? Today he is no more singing the same chorus. He should be singing the same chorus today he has lost his voice,” he stated.
