He claimed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is leading the Inter-Party Resistance against New Voters Register, just wants to use the protest to energise their grassroots ahead of the 2020 elections.

He was reacting to the mammoth protest against the new Voters Register to be compiled by the Electoral Commission (EC) in April.

The group has said until the EC heeds to their plea, they will continue to mount pressure for the current register to be maintained.

Aside the register, the protestors also cited the deplorable nature of roads and slow development in the stronghold of the ruling party to corroborate their claim that the Akufo-Addo government has failed.

In a rebuttal, the Ashanti Regional Minister on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme said the opposition party is just making ugly noises.

He explained that, since their argument against the new electoral roll has failed, the NDC is now clutching at straws.

“NDC does not stand for the truth, they are shameless people. We stand for truth and integrity and we tell the people the truth, they should keep on lying,” he fumed.

The Ashanti Regional Minister cited how many road projects abandoned by the erstwhile Mahama administration are nearing completion to buttress his point.

He appealed to Ghanaians not to be swayed by hypocrisy of the NDC but rather support the EC to develop a credible register for the elections.
