Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, does not seem to agree with investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ decision to start an online petition to request for the prosecution of former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Mr Baako believes the online petition, in the first place, was needless explaining that if he had prior notice of it, he would have advised against it.
“I’ve raised the same matter with him and I’m being very candid, if I’d had prior notice there’ll be this online petition, I would have advised against it and I’ve told him that. I think it’s needless. Sentimentally, I understand them but strictly speaking, I think that could have been shelved. I’ve told him in private, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying so publicly,” he said this while speaking on Joy News’ political show ‘Newsfile’ on Saturday.

Mr Baako’s comment followed a resort to a petition, by the investigative journalist, to ensure that embattled GFA president is prosecuted after he (Mr Nyantakyi) was captured in a secret recording by Mr Anas allegedly demanding bribes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana (USD5m); Vice President of the Republic of Ghana (USD3m); Minister for Roads and Highways (USD2m) and the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.
Mr Anas, in seeking justice, embarked on a course to collect signatures to take an action to prove the misconduct of Mr Nyantakyi.
But, to Mr Baako, the Attorney General’s (AG) office and Tiger Eye Group have been working together since the demise of Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

“Whatever the AG needs has been supplied. As for that one, I’m very clear in my mind. The AG’s office and Tiger Eye Group have been working together since the demise of Hussein-Suale,” he emphasised.
He believes there is a certain level of frustration within the Tiger Eye Group which to him has triggered the shadow boxing.

“There is a certain level of frustration within the Tiger Eye Group that the pace to seek justice is very slow. Perhaps, that’s what has triggered the shadow boxing. My view is that petition or no petition, prosecution will take place. There is no cause for alarm, my candid opinion,” he urged.
