Deputy Chief of Staff Abu Jinapor has said that President Akufo Addo has made the right choice by appointing the Head of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Jean Mensa as the next Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Monday, Mr Jinapor is of the strong conviction that Mrs Mensa is a fair and independent-minded character of integrity that stands tall.

“Akufo has made the right choice because he knows what Mrs Jean Mensa who is a woman of integrity can do. He should be commended for making such bold decision” he said.
Mrs Jean Mensa has been nominated Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
It follows the removal of Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Mrs Georgina Opoku Amankwaa, for stated misbehaviour.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare named Mr Samuel Tettey and Dr Eric Asare Bossman as Deputy Chairpersons.
Ms Adwoa Asuama has also been named as a member of the Commission. She replaces Mrs Pauline Dadzawa who has proceeded on retirement.

The NDC has since kicked against the decision of the President describing it as inappropriate.
But Mr Jinapor believes the appointment of Mrs Jean Mensa is a sign of rising above partisan banters.
He also said Jean Mensa found favour with the late President and NDC leader Professor Evans Atta Mills who appointed her in 2010 as a member of the 1992 Constitutional Review Commission.
Abu Jinapor indicated that former President John Mahama also had cause to appoint an IEA debate moderator Prof. Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang as Education Minister, suggesting the choice could not be stretched to mean the IEA is pro-NDC.
