A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says security agencies in the country have been rendered impotent.
According to Koku Anyidoho, though the police can function, they kowtow to the whims and caprices of President Akufo-Addo.
“The police have been rendered homeless and I don’t blame anyone than the Nana Addo government. They can function but they have been influenced politically which has made them weak now” he noted.
He cited how thugs of the NPP at Karaga in the Northern region are terrorizing the police as an example.
“NPP should stop rendering state institutions impotent especially the security agencies because these hooligans are using their party to attack innocent lives” he said on Accra- based Neat FM.
Koku’s comments come on the heels of the 18th act of hooliganism carried out by pro-NPP supporters in Karaga in the Northern Region.
The group stormed a police station to forcibly free two of its arrested members and also vandalized an office belonging to the party. It torched a motorbike in the ensuing melee.
The chaos was in connection with their accusation of the YEA Director of the region that he discriminated against them in a job recruitment exercise.
Speaking on the matter, the NDC deputy scribe said these hoodlums have the impetus to carry out such shameful acts because they have the backing of the President.
However, he urged the police to be bold and stop pampering hoodlums in political colours.
