Atta Akyea slams A-G over arrest of Adu Boahene, wife [Audio]

Former Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta Akyea, has criticized the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over the handling of the case involving former Director of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahene.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Atta Akyea claimed that the treatment of his clients amounted to persecution rather than a fair legal process.

Atta Akyea, who represents the embattled former official and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, insisted that due process must be followed to ensure justice is served without prejudice or public humiliation.

According to him, Angela was arrested and detained on Friday, March 21, when she visited her husband at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) cells.

The former lawmaker questioned the manner in which the couple was treated, arguing that no wrongdoer would voluntarily present themselves at the scene of their arrest.

He emphasized that Mr. Boahene willingly traveled through Kotoka International Airport, a high-security zone, rather than evading authorities through illegal border routes. To him, this demonstrated the couple’s willingness to cooperate with the legal process.

Mr. Boahene has been accused of embezzling state funds and laundering them through real estate investments, including a $7 million cyber defense system contract.

However, his lawyer maintained that the arrests were politically motivated and lacked due process, vowing to pursue the appropriate legal measures.
