Asunafo South District sensitizes women on WASH initiatives

-

The Asunafo South District Assembly in the Ahafo Region has educated women on the importance of actively participating in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives.

The event, held in Kukuom, brought together queen mothers, security personnel, health workers, artisans, teachers, and students.

Speaking to Adom News, Environmental Health Officer Justice Kyere Gabriel noted that women’s involvement in WASH programs has been lower compared to men.

He emphasized that the education provided at the event would empower women to take proactive steps in improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in their communities.

Nana Serwaa Ampaafo Brakatu I, Nifahemaa of Kukuom and chairperson of the event, described the program as impactful, especially as part of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.

She encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained to ensure greater women’s involvement in WASH initiatives across the district.
