Regional-Chairman aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Ashie Moore, wants the leadership of the Greater Accra regional office of the party to account for a GHC 8.4 billion campaign fund it received from some MP aspirants ahead of 2016 elections.
He told Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday that the executives have failed to account for the funds.
According to him, about 85 MP aspirants paid GHC 10,000 each as developmental fees but the executives failed to put the money to good use.
Mr Moore said the development has informed his decision to contest the regional chairmanship slot to correct the wrongs.

“During the 2016 election, apart from paying a filing fee of 10,000 cedis, MP aspirants, numbering about 85 were made to pay GHC 10,000 as developmental fees but they have not accounted for the development fee for greater Accra region,” he said.
“We were 85 candidates and so in all, we paid 8.4 billion cedis and I want to know where that money is. I think the leadership didn’t do a good job to account for the money. We were also given some vehicles during the campaign but we can’t find all these vehicles,” he continued.
Mr Moore who is also the former MP for Adentan accused the Ade Coker-led executives being responsible for the poor performance of the NDC in the region.
