Asante Kotoko turns 83 today

-

Ghanaian Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko turn 83 years today, August 31.

History of the Africa Club of the Century has it that the late Mr. J.S.K. Frimpong, then a teacher of the Kumasi Government School who had all the time shown interest in “Kumasi Titanics”, a club established in 1926 organized some men from his school and proposed a change of name from “Kumasi Titanics” to Asante Kotoko SC upon the King of the Ashanti Kingdom’s permission.

The change made Nana Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, the Asantehene at that time, the first life patron of the club and Asante Kotoko SC was subsequently formally founded.

The two times Africa champions have a record 23 league titles and nine Ghana FA Cup trophies.
