Asante Kotoko: Prosper Narteh Ogum challenges new signings to raise their game

-

Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Ogum, has issued a strong warning to the club’s new signings, urging them to exceed expectations if they hope to secure spots in the starting lineup.

The Porcupine Warriors have bolstered their squad with key additions, including Kwame Opoku, Daniel Adjetey, Isaac Mintah, and Sampson Eduku, as they aim to maintain their impressive form in the Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko is currently enjoying a stellar run, remaining unbeaten in their last six league matches with five wins and one draw. They wrapped up the first round of the season in third place with 31 points, just two behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.

After a dominant 4-1 victory over Vision FC, Coach Ogum emphasized the importance of sustaining the team’s high standards.

“We aim to maintain the right balance in defense, midfield, and attack. In terms of performance, we strive to ensure that we don’t drop the standard,” he said.

“Where we are now, we need to either maintain that level or improve. This sends a strong message to those not starting games.

“For those who have signed, it’s a clear signal that they need to perform at a higher level above those currently playing to break into the team. Anything less won’t earn them playing time,” he added.

Asante Kotoko will look to extend their fine form when they take on Karela United in a Matchday 18 fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
