Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are set to submit a joint statement to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), calling for enhanced security measures at league venues amid the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
This initiative comes in response to the violent incidents that occurred during the Matchday 19 fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Kotoko at the Nana Koromansah II Stadium in Nsoatre last weekend.
The unfortunate clashes led to the tragic death of a dedicated fan, Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
The Ghana Police have since taken up the matter, with at least five individuals arrested in connection to the incident.
In addition to other interventions, Kotoko and Hearts have decided to appeal directly to the GFA, urging for stricter security protocols to prevent future occurrences.
This decision follows a crucial meeting between the management of both clubs.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is set to convene a meeting with all Premier League clubs today, Thursday, February 6, 2025, to address the situation and discuss the way forward.
