A Communications Member of Asante Kotoko, Seth Nii Darko, has given a vivid account of how Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death.
Nana Pooley, who was also a Communications Member of the Supporters’ Group, was fatally stabbed by unknown attackers during their Matchday 19 fixture at Nana Kronmansah Park in Twumasikrom, a game that ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
Speaking on the Ultimate Sports Show on Asempa FM, Nii Darko said he is struggling to get over the unfortunate incident.
“It feels like my ball is missing in between my thighs because how can we take his lifeless body to the mortuary when we all left Kumasi happily,” he said.
According to him, he can’t imagine how someone full of life would lose his life in such a tragic manner.
“Usually, Chairman Solo is the one who prays but before the bus departed from Kumasi, he offered to pray,” he narrated.
Nii Darko revealed that upon arrival in Nsoatre, the gate was locked and they had to wait about five minutes to get in.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko has withdrawn from all football activities until justice is served.
The Ghana Police Service has also arrested three persons in connection with the death of Nana Pooley, including Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the owner of Nsoatreman FC.
IGP George Akuffo Dampare has held talks with the leadership of Asante Kotoko and assured them that the perpetrators will be brought to book.
Additionally, the Matchday 20 games of the Ghana Premier League have been postponed.
